In a press release entitled "IARC Monographs evaluate consumption of red meat and processed meat", the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), the cancer agency of World Health Organization (WHO), declared that consumption of red meat "is probably carcinogenic to humans", and that consumption of processed meat "is carcinogenic to humans".
This declaration is based on the review of the "accumulated scientific literature" by a group of 22 experts from 10 countries.
