The Southern Nevada Water Authority is nearing the end of a project, Intake No. 3, started in 2008 which involves the construction of an underground tunnel/pipeline that will be used to draw water from Lake Mead for use in Southern Nevada in the event the water level on Lake Mead falls below the level of the other two existing water intakes.
