Nov 23, 2015:
In a document entitled Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Registration Task Force (RTF) Aviation Rulemaking Committee (ARC) Task Force Recommendations Final Report, the task force put together by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) released recommendations for the drone registration process. The task force recommendations are expected to be broadly accepted by the FAA.
Essentially, the recommendations state that all drones between 0.55 pounds and 55 pounds in weight need to be registered. The registration process will require drone owners to submit their name and physical address, in exchange for an identifying number which must be placed on the drone. The registration will be free.
