On November 24, 2014,, President Obama presented Presidential Medals of Freedom to 18 Americans. Among the recipients are Tom Brokaw, Meryl Streep, Stevie Wonder, and the three men brutally murdered by the KKK while serving as volunteers of the Freedom Summer project in 1964 (James Chaney, Andrew Goodman, and Michael Schwerner).
