Thirteen people were killed and 100 injured (15 seriously) in a terrorist attack in Barcelona, Spain when a driver of a van drove at high speed, zig-zagging down the pedestrian walkway of the Las Ramblas district in the afternoon, hitting pedestrians as he drove.
The driver of the van escaped on foot. Two other people were later arrested.
The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack.
A separate attack occurred afterwards in the town of Cambrils (south of Barcelona) where terrorists ran over six civilians and a police officer before police shot and killed five terrorists.
