In southern California, NBC Channel 4 video shot from a helicopter shows several San Bernardino County deputies beating 30-year old Francis Jared Pusok when arresting him at the end of a chase through the desert. In the video, Pusok is clearly surrendering, laying face down on the ground with his hands behind his back. San Bernardino County Sheriff John McMahon said he was launching an internal investigation into the actions of the deputies.
