Apr 14, 2022:
On April 4, 2022, Patrick Lyoya was stopped by Grand Rapids, Michigan Police because the car he was driving had improper registration.
After a confrontation between Lyoya and the police officer, the office shot Lyoya in the head, killing him.
Office body camera footage shows the physical struggle between Lyoya and the officer, but the camera video went dark 42 seconds before the fatal shot was fired.
Lyoya was a 26-year-old refugee from the Congo in Africa.
Lawyers for the Lyoya family said the officer who shot Patrick should be prosecuted and fired.

The Grand Rapids incident, if reported accurately, needs to be a national cry for peaceful intervention, whenever and wherever it is necessary. Although I am in favor of keeping our police officers alive, we cannot allow them to have a license to murder a white or black or green or gray or whatever color skin the suspect may have. What is going on at the training level that encourages officers to fire upon a suspect who is face down on the pavement? There definitely needs to be a thorough inquest posthaste.
