Feb 5, 2018:

In Charlotte, Michigan, Judge Janice Cunningham sentenced Larry Nassar to 40-125 years in prison. Nassar will serve this sentence concurrently with the 40-175 year sentence he received in Lansing, Michigan on January 24. Both sentences will be served after Nassar serves 60 years for the child pornography sentence he received on December 7 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

USA Gynmastics announced that all of its remaining board members have resigned.

In Charlotte, Michigan, a third sentencing trial for Larry Nassar began, where at least 65 women are expected to read impact statements. This trial is for three sexual assault charges in Eaton County, where Nassar pleaded guilty to abusing young gymnasts at Twistars gymnastics club in Dimondale, Michigan.

Michigan State University Athletic Director Mark Hollis resigned.

A fourth member of the USA Gymnastics Board of Directors, Kevin Martinez, resigned.

Lou Anna Simon, the president of Michigan State University, resigned.

Jan 24, 2018:

In Lansing, Michigan, Judge Rosemarie Aquilina sentenced Larry Nassar to 40-175 years in prison for sexually abusing over 150 girls and women over the past 20 years.

At the sentencing hearing the past week, over 150 girls and women read statements that they were sexually abused by Nassar.

In a letter entitled "Open Letters To Team USA Athletes Regarding Nassar Case", US Olympic Committee (USOC) Chief Executive Scott Blackmun apologized to "Team USA" saying:

We are sorry for the pain caused by this terrible man, and sorry that you weren't afforded a safe opportunity to pursue your sports dreams. The Olympic family is among those that have failed you. I know this apology is not enough. We have been working on taking steps at the USOC and mandating changes among National Governing Bodies to ensure this does not happen again.

In the letter Blackmun lists and elaborates on the following four USOC action items:

  1. We Must Change the Culture of the Sport.
  2. We Must Change the Governance Structure of the NGB.
  3. We Must Know Who Knew What and When.
  4. We Must Support Safe Sport Victims and Survivors.

Blackmun also called on all members of the USA Gymnastics Board of Directors to resign, threatening decertification of USA Gymnastics if members don't follow through on his request.

Jan 22, 2018:

In a statement on the USA Gymnastics website entitled "USA Gymnastics statement regarding Board of Directors Executive Leadership", Chairman Paul Parilla, Vice Chairman Jay Binder, and Treasurer Bitsy Kelley, all members of the USA Gymnastics Board of Directors, all resigned effective yesterday.

Jan 18, 2018:

USA Gymnastics president and CEO Kerry Perry announced that USA Gymnastics has ended its agreement with Karolyi Ranch in Hunstville, Texas, saying that the facility "will no longer serve as the USA Gymnastics National Team Training Center."

Karolyi Ranch is run by world-renowned gymnastics coaches Marta and Bela Karolyi who have been recognized as coaching some of the world's most accomplished gymnasts over the past 35 years.

Dec 7, 2017:

In Grand Rapids, Michigan, U.S. District Judge Janet Neff sentenced Larry Nassar to 60 years in prison.

Nov 29, 2017:

Appearing in a different Michigan county circuit court (Eaton County Circuit Court), Larry Nassar pleaded guilty to three additional first-degree felony counts of criminal sexual conduct. A date of January 31, 2018 was set for the sentencing hearing.

Nov 22, 2017:

In Lansing, Michigan, former Michigan State University and USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar pleaded guilty to seven first-degree felony counts of criminal sexual conduct related to seven victims. A plea agreement was made with the prosecution (the Michigan Attorney General's Office) for a sentence of 25-40 years.

Ingham County Circuit Judge Rosemarie Aquilina set a date of January 12, 2018 for the sentencing hearing, saying that all victims would have the opportunity to speak at the hearing and that the hearing may take multiple days to complete.

On the CBS News program "60 Minutes", three former American female gymnasts (Jamie Dantzscher, Jeanette Antolin, and Jessica Howard) talked about the challenging gymnastics training environment and their treatments from U.S. national women's gymnastics team doctor Larry Nassar.

Nassar was released from USA Gymnastics in July of 2015 and terminated from his position at Michigan State University several months later.

Feb 17, 2017:

At a hearing in Mason, Michigan, District Court Judge Donald Allen Jr. ruled there is sufficient evidence for Larry Nassar to stand trial for three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a person younger than 13. The alleged conduct took place in Nasser's home from 1998 to 2005.

Dec 16, 2016:

In Lansing, Michigan, Larry was indicted on federal charges of possession of child pornography and receipt/attempted receipt of child pornography.

Aug 4, 2016:

The Indianapolis Star (Indy Star) published an article entitled Out of Balance, describing how USA Gymnastics failed to follow through on numerous allegations of sexual abuse by coaches.
