In Charlotte, North Carolina, Charlotte-Mecklenberg Police officer Brentley Vinson shot and killed Keith Lamont Scott, a 43-year-old black man who apparently had a TBI (traumatic brain injury).

Officers were looking for someone else with an outstanding arrest warrant when they saw Scott exit his vehicle. According to police Scott had a firearm when he exited his vehicle.

According to Scott's family, Scott was in his vehicle in an apartment complex waiting for his son's school bus to arrive when the shooting occurred.

Charlotte-Mecklenberg police Chief Kerr Putney said he won't release police video of the incident because he doesn't want to jeopardize the investigation. Putney also said that the public should have no expectation that the video will be released. He also said the video does not provide "definitive visual evidence" that Scott was pointing a gun at police when he was shot, but that other evidence and witness accounts support the narrative that Scott was shot only after Scott refused to drop his weapon.

Attorney Justin Bamberg said it's impossible to see what, if anything, Scott was holding in his hand from the police video. Bamberg said that Scott was not acting aggresively when he was shot.
