Mar 26, 2021:
The owner of the store where shooting suspect Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa purchased the firearm used in the shooting said that Alissa passed a Colorado Bureau of Investigation background check before purchasing the gun.
The gun used is a Ruger AR-556 pistol which resembles an AR-15 rifle with a slightly shorter stock.
In 2018, Alissa was convicted of misdemeanor assault, but misdemeanor convictions generally do not prevent someone from purchasing a weapon.
