Oct 2, 2017:
Just after 10 pm last night in Las Vegas, Nevada, a lone 64-year-old gunman by the name of Stephen Paddock shot and killed 58 people and injured at least 527 at the Route 91 Harvest Festival.
Armed with multiple assault rifles, Paddock shot at a crowd of 22,000 concert-goers from his 32nd floor room at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino just across the street from the festival.
When police entered the shooter's hotel room they found at least 10 rifles and the shooter dead, apparently of self-inflicted wounds.
The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the shooting, but as of yet there is no evidence to support that claim.
The shooting has been called the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.
