Today, health officials in Texas announced that the last Texas Health Presbyterian hospital worker being monitored for symptoms of Ebola was no longer at risk, ending the outbreak which began when Thomas Duncan was diagnosed with Ebola on September 30. A total of 177 people in Texas had been monitored after having contact with one of the three people diagnosed with Ebola in Texas.

Yesterday, a judge in Maine issued a temporary order stating that Kaci Hickox must keep her distance from crowds and public transportation. Today, that same judge softened the order and said that Kaci is free to move about freely as long as she is monitored for symptoms and keeps health officials posted on her whereabouts.

Today, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and New Jersey Gov. Starting Monday, October 27, travelers from Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea will be required to check in daily with U.S. Health officials for three weeks, even if they show no symptoms of Ebola. Initially, only the states of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, and Georgia will be affected, but eventually all 50 U.S. states will be part of the program.
