On the One-Year Anniversary of the January 6 Capitol Riot Donald Trump Releases a Statement and Sits for an Interview with OAN

On January 7, 2022, Donald Trump released the following statement:

What we witnessed yesterday was the last gasps of a corrupt and discredited left-wing political and media establishment that has, for decades, driven our country into the ground—shipping away our jobs, surrendering our strength, sacrificing our sovereignty, attacking our history and values, and trying to turn America into a country that our people can barely recognize.

These radical leftists in Washington care NOTHING for American Democracy. All they care about is control over you, and wealth and riches for themselves.

But they are failing. No one believes them anymore. And the day is quicky coming when they will be overwhelmingly voted out of power.

Joe Biden's voice is now the voice of desperation and despair.

His handlers gave him that speech to read yesterday because they know the unprecedented failures of his presidency and the left-wing extremism of the Pelosi-Schumer Congress have destroyed the Democrat Party.

Part of their panic is motivated by the realization that, just like the Russia Collusion Hoax, they cannot sustain the preposterous fabrications about January 6 much longer. The truth is coming out.

But for them, the worst part of it all is the knowledge that the American People are seeing right through their phony media event—which despicably compared a Pelosi-led security failure at the Capitol to the darkest days in American history and the deaths of 3,000 Americans.

The people see right through that sham. They see a cynical politician who ran for office promising unity who is now doing the most divisive thing possible—slandering his political opponents as domestic terrorists, just like insecure dictators do in communist countries.

The American People also see that January 6 has become the Democrats' excuse and pretext for the most chilling assault on the civil liberties of American citizens in generations. It is being used to justify outrageous attacks on free speech, widespread censorship, de-platforming, calls for increased domestic surveillance, appalling abuse of political prisoners, labeling opponents of COVID lockdowns and mandates as national security threats, and even ordering the FBI to target parents who object to the radical indoctrination of their children in school. And this week, January 6 is also the Democrats' excuse for trying to pass a radical Federal takeover of state election law. They are trying to BAN voter ID and other basic measures that can ensure the sacred integrity of the vote.

The reason the Democrats are doing all of this is not because they believe they will win a fair and honest election. It's because they know they will overwhelmingly LOSE one.

Remember, I am not the one trying to undermine American Democracy—I am the one trying to SAVE American Democracy.

Today, I am more confident than ever in the strength and common sense of the American People. They are counting the days until we will no longer have to be constantly lectured, lied to, and dictated to by corrupt politicians and their media partners. When we will no longer have to put up with this broken establishment's hoaxes and its manufactured media narratives—And as Biden and his radical handlers know, that day is coming fast. Because in the months and years ahead, the American People are going to speak up, take action, and VOTE in massive numbers, and we are going to TAKE BACK OUR COUNTRY.

From the very beginning, all that Americans have wanted is great jobs, safe neighborhoods, strong borders, good schools, a proud nation, and a government that LISTENS to the American People. That is what our movement has always been about—and that is what we are focused on to this day.

Joe Biden and the Radical Democrats have failed on every front. But do not lose hope. America WILL be Great Again.

Commentary:

True to form, Trump released a statement laced with gross exaggerations, political B.S., and outright lies. He can't help it. It's what he does. I wouldn't have expected anything less.

To say that "radical leftists in Washington care NOTHING for American Democracy" is a lie, and a big one.

To label leftist concerns about January 6 as "preposterous fabrications" is an attempt by Trump to deflect away from, and to change the reality of what happened on January 6. Of course, he doesn't want that reality to be examined because it reflects so poorly on him.

Referring to events on January 6 as a "Pelosi-led security failure" is ridiculous and just more deflection. Not once in his statement does Trump place any of the responsibility for what happened on January 6 on himself or on the people who were behaving in support of him.

When Trump says that the "American People are seeing right through their phony media event", referring to it as a "sham", he's putting out a false narrative and continuing to stoke the fires of division. By using the term "American People" (which he's used many times before), he's referring to just his people, his supporters. Trump doesn't consider the vast number of other Americans who don't support him to be included in "American People", which is of course, absurd. People who don't buy into his lies and hyperbole, and people who don't support him are just as American as those who do, but not according to Trump.

On January 6, 2022, Donald Trump sat for an interview with Christina Bobb from One America News (OAN).

Trump began the interview by calling Biden's first year in office a "disaster", saying the U.S. has lost its power in the world. He also complained about the U.S. withdrawl from Afghanistan calling it the "most embarrassing and demeaning moment" in U.S. history.

One year ago we [the U.S.] were respected like, probably, never before.

Iran would have had a deal with us [the U.S.] within one week after the election if the election wasn't rigged.

Everything was going beautifully, and then the election got rigged and stolen from the American people.

Trump claimed the crowd at the Save America rally on January 6, 2021 was the largest he had ever spoken to, "by far", complaining that the media never showed those large crowds.

A tiny percentage, and I mean tiny, like less than one percent went to the Capitol, that's all it was.

Trump complained about the media asking the question, "Why do we have such a dishonest press?"

And why don't they [the media] show the real crowd that was there on January 6?...They don't want to show that crowd because that shows what it was all about. They were there over a rigged election.

Bobb on censorship:

Well, now it's very clear that conservatives are being censored.

Trump responds by saying "It's the beginning of communism, and I think it's long beyond the beginning...We're headed toward Venezuela, large-scale version."

The borders are broken and the elections are rigged. Other than that we're dong very well...I never thought the elections could be rigged to this extent. We're talking about hundreds of thousands of votes in certain states, determinative.

I said it loud and clear when I saw mail-in ballots. I said they're going to use the COVID to steal the election, to cheat. Because they do cheat like nobody's ever cheated before. We ran a third-world election.

Trump then states that new information is coming out, soon, showing that "numerous" states were won by him.

It's already shown. If you look at the findings in Arizona, that's over. We won it...If you look at those findings, we won the state.

Bobb:

This is proof that people need to get involved and be part of the poll-watcher groups.

Trump:

Well, in Pennsylvania they had poll watchers...and the poll watchers were virtually beat up and thrown out. They weren't allowed to watch.

But look, I was up by hundreds of thousands of votes at ten o'clock in the evening. All of a sudden it vanished, like a miracle.

When you have more votes than voters, you [referring to Mike Pence] can send that back to the legislature...And Mitch McConnell shouldn't have accepted it. Schumer would have never accepted it...Mitch McConnell has been a disaster.

The first thing Biden did was sign 17 executive orders, ruinous to our country, including borders, open the borders. The wall would have been completed in four weeks..We built almost 500 miles of border wall. The rest was going to be completed immediately.

Commentary:

Of course, Trump just couldn't get through an interview without bringing up and belaboring his maniacal belief that the 2020 election was stolen. Trump's ego demands that he constantly reinforce the "Big Lie", not only to the rest of the world (to remind us all that he really didn't lose the 2020 election), but also to soothe, comfort, and reinforce his oh-so-fragile ego.

After more than 60 legal challenges, recounts and election audits in all the major battleground states, no significant voter fraud was found. The election WAS NOT rigged. The election WAS NOT stolen. Those are the facts, period, end of story.

Trump recounts the story of how he predicted that Democrats would "cheat" using COVID and mail-in ballots, because "they do cheat like nobody's ever cheated before."

He makes a big deal about the fact, according to him, that less than one percent of the people at the Save America rally on January 6 actually made their way to the Capitol.

He also rails that the media didn't show how big the crowd at the rally was, implying that the media was trying to hide from the public just how many people were there. Trump says they were there because of a "rigged election."

What Trump doesn't say one word about is what effect his "rigged election mantra" had on his supporters - a mantra he barked out month after month in the lead up to the 2020 election. He literally brain-washed his supporters into believing his "Big Lie" even before the election had taken place. This was Trump's ego at work, making sure that just in case he didn't win reelection, he could say, "See, the results of this election prove what I've been telling you all along - the election was rigged." And by then, he would have convinced the vast majority of his supporters to believe him, regardless of the facts.

We all understand why so many people showed up for the Save America rally on January 6. They were there because they believed, hook line and sinker, everything Trump had been telling them all along. What we all need to understand is that Trump is the guy who instigated the January 6 riot on the Capitol, not just by his incendiary comments at the rally on January 6, but by everything he said in the lead up to the election and by his continuing refusal to accept the results after the election.

The fact that only a small percentage of the people at the rally actually went to the Capitol (according to Trump) doesn't mean squat. This is just Trump trying to deflect from what happened that day. The "small" group that did go wreaked havoc with Capitol Police, put the lives of many of our elected officials in danger, damaged government property, and was an attempt to subvert our democracy. It was an act of domestic terrorism.

Trump asks, "Why do we have such a dishonest press?" Answer: because Trump lied so much when he was president. As I've stated before, Trump got this "toxic media sludge ball" rolling with all of his lies, gross exaggerations, and incendiary comments during both his 2016 election campaign and his time as president. Trump constantly stoked, and continues to stoke, the fires of division. Now, there's so much hatred, and the political factions are so deeply entrenched that media outlets are more and more out of control. When one media outlet lies, it puts pressure on others to counter the lies, and in a twisted way it seems to make it more reasonable and OK to do so. Think back to before Trump entered U.S. politics back in 2015. Was the media THIS dishonest then? No, of course not. Was there THIS degree of hatred and contempt for opposing points of view? No, of course not. Trump is the catalyst and we all have him to blame for instigating where we are at today.

Bobb says it's "very clear that conservatives are being censored." If people would stick to the facts, then we wouldn't have a problem with "censorship" by social media. Unfortunately, ever since the birth of "alternative facts" (pioneered by conservatives) and the existence of social media itself, disinformation is rampant and it spreads like wildfire. If you're predisposed to a certain way of thinking and you see something on social media that fits your existing mindset, you're most likely going to believe it and not even do any further research to see if it's true. It's a sad statement about where we're at politically, but to just let anyone post anything poses a danger not only to our personal health and well-being, but to our democracy as well. At some point, action had to be taken.

Trump says that poll watchers in Pennsylvania were "virtually beat up and thrown out" and not "allowed to watch." If that in fact happened, I'm sure many media outlets would have covered a story like this. The only related information I could find is about a misunderstanding of rules which you can read about here.

Trump again brings up the fact that he was "up by hundreds of thousands of votes at ten o'clock in the evening", and that "All of a sudden it vanished, like a miracle." It was widely publicized and well-known going into election day that because of the anticipated large number of mail-in ballots (because of COVID-19), final results might not be known for several days after election day. It was also well-known that Democrats are much, much more likely to vote by mail-in than Republicans. Yes, there were some large increases of votes for Biden on election night and into the next morning, but they are all explained here. There was no fraud.

  1. Trump lost. However it's not over until these millions of dupes and stooges he has conned stop sending him money. One of history's greatest con men. Analogous to N. Korea-as long as Un lobs missiles with potential he gets attention and bailouts. As long as Trump can spin lies for money he stays "relevant" with his minions, and in the media. Truth is irrelevant against a wall of spin. We need to find his Achilles heel or we are stuck with him and threats to America's integrity.
